Wyatt "Pookie" Bernard Oser

Wyatt "Pookie" Bernard Oser, beloved son and grandson, cherished brother, favorite nephew and cousin, loyal friend and teammate passed away on October 7, 2024, at the age of thirteen. As a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish, Wyatt attended Joseph J. Davies Elementary School where he was an honor student and a member of the Beta Club and K Kids. He went on to attend N.P. Trist Middle School where he maintained his honor roll status and touched the lives and hearts of many students and teachers. He had an immense love for sports and played recreational ball for The Borgnemouth Braves Booster Club where he was a positive and uplifting teammate. He was a devoted Catholic and an altar server at Our Lady of Lourdes Church where he was named “Oyster Festival King” in 2019. 

Wyatt is the son of Maria Tenorio Oser and the late Bernard F. Oser III. He was the answer to their prayers. He was the cherished baby brother of Bernie Oser. The maternal grandson of Cristina “Lita” Dierker and the late Julio R. Tenorio. The paternal grandson of the late Bernard F. Oser Jr. and Edna A. Oser. The great nephew of Adele Dierker and the nephew of Ricardo Tenorio (Michelle), Godmother Angelica Tenorio (Jay), Darly Oser (Earline), David Oser (Linda) and Godfather Dean Oser (Cheryl). He was loved and adored by his cousins Marissa Tenorio, Arabella Manley Tenorio, Henry Manley, Ricardo Tenorio Jr., Tyler Tenorio, Bane Tenorio, Rio Tenorio, Travis Manley, Katie Wagner (Jeff), David Oser (Brooke), Elizabeth Burkhardt (Jerad), Olivia Scariano (Sean), Victoria Oser (Matthew Ardoin), Julian, Cecilia, Jenson, Luke, Noah and Reese.

With a personality as large as Wyatt’s, it’s impossible not to make friends wherever you go. He has many friends, but his most valued friendships are those of his best friends, Carter W. Blanchard, Luke Vaccarella Jr. and Logan Leger. 

He is deeply loved by James and Mary Jo Grose, Jaime Hartwick (Eliana and Derick Balli Jr.) and Bobby and Laura Blanchard and family. 

Wyatt was a compassionate, cheerful and curious young man. His personality was bright and bold, and he was determined to make everyone around him laugh. When he entered a room, his presence was immediately known. He had a unique ability to turn tough situations into happy moments and would make light of the hardest of times. He had a radiant smile and an infectious laugh which was undeniably his best trait. He spent his free time fishing, which was his favorite hobby. He loved all sports, but being out on the diamond in the spring playing baseball gave him the ultimate happiness. He acquired his love for video games from his older brother Bernie, which was a hobby they enjoyed together. Wyatt loved his family and friends passionately, fiercely and without fail. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. 

The family would like to extend our gratitude to the first responders, Sheriff Pohlmann, the St. Bernard Sheriff’s office and the staff at University Medical Center. 

Wyatt gave the gift of life to others through organ donation and his legacy will continue to leave its mark on the world.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124 on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
