Vincent Paul Piazza Jr. passed away on December 20, 2024, surrounded by his wife and family at the age of 88 years old. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Vincent was an adventurous boy who at an early age always put his family first, taking care of his mother earning him the affectionate nickname, “Manny”. Vincent graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1955 after meeting his high school sweetheart and soon to be wife, Kathleen Sunseri, at a St. Dominic School dance, going on to attend Tulane University. Over the years he had nine loving children, 6 boys and 3 girls. Vincent originally began working with his cousin Sal, then later went to work with his father at the family seafood company, Paul Piazza and Sons Seafood, which began in the late 1800’s. In 1987, He went on to start Vincent Piazza Jr. and Sons Seafood in Harahan, Louisiana. A company which still operates and thrives today, run by his children. He helped to create a global seafood enterprise in which the name Piazza is synonymous with seafood across the globe. He was an avid investor in local rental properties in which he was well liked, admired, and respected by his tenants. Whenever he would walk into a room, everyone was drawn to his charisma and overwhelming charm, making everyone feel welcomed as part of the family. As a family man he was a devoted husband and loving father who loved spending time with his wife, children, then later his grand and great grandchildren. Vincent loved going on vacations with Kathleen and their family to many places including but not limited to the Smokey Mountains.
Vincent loved having large parties at the house including traditional family events centered around most holidays including Easter, Father’s Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and countless birthday celebrations. He loved taking control of the grill and everyone looked forward to his traditional family Olive Salad dressing. Vincent was a devoted Catholic, who enjoyed Sunday mornings attending church with the entire family followed by lunch at the house. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent Paul Piazza Sr, and Claire Petitfils Winters; He is survived by his amazing wife Kathleen; He was a beloved brother of Paul Piazza, Louis Piazza, John Winters Jr., Nina Baumer, and Brenda Durand; He will be greatly missed by his nine children, Elizabeth Piazza Hahn (Paul), Vincent Piazza III (Mauricio), Cynthia Piazza, Calvin Piazza (Lisa), Paul Piazza (Stacey), Rene Piazza, Kathleen Piazza Urquhart (Andrew), Bryan Piazza (Tracey), Nicholas Piazza (Rosica); He will forever be missed by his 39 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren. He will also be missed by countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and Godchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, Louisiana on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Vincent will be laid to rest in Metairie Cemetery following the chapel service.
