Terry leaves behind his loving family: Joan Torre Walker, his wife of over 52 years, his daughters, Torre Andrade (Mauricio) and Tierney Nemeth (Eric) and his precious grandchildren; Alessandro and Massimo Andrade and Violet Nemeth. Terry is also survived by his sister, Kathleen Walker Uzzelle (the late George “Hamp” Hampton Uzzelle III), and their children and grandchildren. He also leaves behind his beloved mother-in-law, Mariam Hines Torre (the late Atillio Pascal Torre), and sisters-in-law, Mariam Z. Torre, and Janis L. Torre.
Terry graduated from Alcee Fortier High School in 1959. He played drums in the band which he loved dearly. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1964. He and Joan were married November 20, 1965.
After marriage, Terry began his long career in the insurance industry, opening an agency with good friends, Albert Aparicio and Frank “Buddy” Seeling III in 1987. The name of the agency is Aparicio, Walker, and Seeling, better known as AWS.
Terry was athletic and loved playing sports. In 1974 he joined Over the Mountain Athletic club better known as OTMAC. He thoroughly enjoyed the organized sports, social events and camaraderie of the club. A special thanks to fellow member, Bill Kraus, for his enduring love and support for Terry.
Terry was also very active in the Fontainebleau Improvement Association. After Hurricane Katrina, he and J.D. Demarest worked diligently, and were successful in bringing Robért Fresh Market to the neighborhood.
Terry was passionate about music and playing drums was a favorite, life-long, past-time. He was an avid supporter of the great local musicians in New Orleans and loved attending performances around the city.
Terry had a zest for life that was contagious and touched the hearts of many. He leaves behind not only a loving family, but an abundance of wonderful friends. We will all miss him dearly.
