She is preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Joseph Schiro; her in-laws, George and Rose Deris; and, many other family members.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, William George Deris; daughter, Michele Renee Deris; son, Michael Paul Deris (Maria Deris and family); Sister, Linda Schiro Post (George Post and family); sister-in-law, Kathy Deris Sanantonio (Louis Sanantonio and family); grandchildren, Cassidy Rose McDaniel, Callie Renee McDaniel, Mallory Lynn Deris, Chloe Marie Hart, Brady Joseph Deris, and Graham Russell Deris; and Susan never met a stranger and immediately loved everyone she met. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten by all who knew her.
Susan was active in her faith as a parishioner at St. Clement of Rome Church, a Chairperson on the Board of Directors at Mount Carmel Academy- where she had also attended school, and was a member of C.C.S.C.C. Catholic Organization. She was a member of the Cancer Crusaders and was a Queen on the Krewe of Tucks. She enjoyed playing bridge, playing Hand and Foot, gardening, investing in stocks, social dining with friends, travel, and last but definitely not least, she enjoyed sharing the CORRECT way to accomplish tasks with everyone and anyone that would listen!
The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and nurses of East Jefferson General Hospital’s ICU.
Family and friends are invited to attend the services on Monday, February 7, 2022 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a 12:00pm Mass celebrated by Msgr. Robert “Bob” Massett.
Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Susan “insists” you donate to the Susan S. Deris scholarship fund at Mount Carmel Academy.
Thank you in advance for “honoring” her wish!
