Loving mother of Dr. John S. Barbara III (Danielle), Marianne Fry (Harley), and Diane Bourgeois (Mike).

Adoring grandmother of 12 grandchildren, J.D. (Angie), Benjamin, Daniel (Krista), Blake (Kristin), Travis, Mariesa, Rebecca (Chesley), John IV, Brian, Rachel, Joshua, and Mitchell. She was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in Heaven by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Fernandez; and brother, the honorable Judge Sheldon Fernandez.

Shirley was born in New Orleans and was a life-long parishioner of St. Christopher Church of Metairie where she retired as a kindergarten teacher. A devout Christian, she epitomized the meaning of F.A.M.I.L.Y. as “Forget About Me, I Love You.” She will forever be loved and missed by all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 2:00pm. A visitation will begin at 12:00pm. A graveside service will follow Mass at All Saints Mausoleum.
