Richard Sheldon Meek Sr.

Richard Sheldon Meek, age 92, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Marguerite Resseguet Meek; father of Betty Meek Giandelone (Michael Comar) and Richard S. Meek, Jr.; grandfather of Eric John Giandelone (Alexandra Smith) and Brian Richard Giandelone (Katie Vance); great-grandfather of Samantha Giandelone and brother of Sue Meek Beckert. Son of the late Harold S. and Helen H. Meek. Richard was a native of Toledo, Ohio and a resident of Kenner, Louisiana. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of VFW 6640, past Seam Squirrel of Military Order of Cooties Mudbugs 3, American Legion Post 175 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 37. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, Louisiana on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until service time. A private interment will take place at the Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the World War II Museum, 945 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70130, are appreciated.
