Patricia Lynn Delery Schully

She lived a full life of grace, dignity, strength, joy and resilience. Lynn was born on March 24, 1944 in New Orleans, and was always proud to say “born and raised”. Lynn is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Lucien Carlisle Delery, Sr. and Mrs. Ethelyn Lucille Davis Delery, and her sister, Mary Beth Delery Rufin (Pierre). Lynn is also survived by her brother, Lucien “Lyle” Carlisle Delery, Jr. (the late Shelia) and her sister, Ethelyn Ann Delery White (Ken). Lynn is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy Arthur Schully, to whom she had been married for fifty-three years and together since Lynn was seventeen years old. Lynn and Roy had two children, Darren Paul Schully and Lisa Lucille Schully Arrington (Henry, Jr. to whom Lynn sweetly referred to as her “favorite son in law”) She also cherished all of the Arrington's and considered them as her second family.

Lynn devoted her legacy to her two grandchildren, Lindsay Sawyer Temple and Sophia Lucille Temple- their mutual love, trust, faith and respect for each other will always remain untouched.

Lynn also took her role as Aunt Lynn as a pledge to her many nieces and nephews of her Delery family and her Schully family. She recognized their goodness and enjoyed making memories with each of them.

Lynn also held many special places in her heart - for Gina Palmisano and Susan Dyson whom she lovingly referred to as her second daughters, and as her extra grandchildren, Caroline, Savanah, Eugenie and Adelaide Rodrigue, and Emma, Avery and Will Dyson. And proudly honored her godchildren, Charles Delery and Burton Widener. And certainly loved her Davis family too.

Lynn attended St Francis Xavier School, Ursuline Academy Class of 1962, LSU and Garners Secretary School. She spent earlier years playing tennis at Beach Club and Metairie Country Club, was a committed bridge card player for decades with her Tuesday night group and also gave her free time as crisis counselor of New Life Pregnancy Center, helping young women in need.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lynn’s life at St Francis Xavier Church, 444 Metairie Road, on Saturday, September 17, 2022, 11am visitation, 11:45am Services of Remembrance, and 12pm Mass. Private burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome: Jesuit High School, Class of 1959 and American Kidney Fund.

A special thanks to her Touro medical team: Dr Salvador Caputto, Dr Rachel Harmon, Dr John Colfry III, the Touro Critical Care Unit and Ann Merchant of Apex At Home Healthcare who all ensured peace and comfort in her final days.
