Olive Virginia Wright Pruski

Olive Virginia Wright Pruski of Metairie, Louisiana passed away peacefully on Monday, June 12, 2023 at the age of 102. Olive was preceded in death by her husband Cdr. Leonard Pruski, grandson Timothy Ryan Shaw, and great grandson Jackson Anthony Shaw. She survived by her seven children, Louis Pruski, Joe Pruski and wife Cyndy, Laurel Reid, Bob Pruski and wife Pat, Terry Shaw, John Pruski and wife Rosa, Malia Proctor; ten grandchildren, nineteen great grand-children and two great great grandchildren. Olive graduated from Marquette University and then Tulane University with a master’s degree in Education. While at Marquette, she was a proud member of Phi Beta Mu. Olive was an educator in Jefferson Parish for over 20 years. She was an avid volunteer of many organizations throughout her life including STAIR Tutoring, Audubon Aquarium of the Americas for ten years, Longue Vue House and Gardens, Second Harvest Food Bank, as well as recruiting new members for Marquette University. She was an exceptional bridge player and enjoyed spending time at the Marrero Senior Center. Olive will be fondly remembered as a supportive wife of a Naval Officer as well as devoted and loving mother. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Hospice Specialists for their care and devotion to Olive as well as Danielle Tate. A private burial was held at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida alongside her husband. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Olive’s memory to Second Harvest Food Bank.
