Nancy Marie Jeansonne Webre, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and lifelong educator, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the age of 76 in Covington, Louisiana. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Bernice Jeansonne and her two brothers, Harold Jeansonne, Jr. and Douglas Jeansonne.
Born in New Orleans on July 29, 1948, Nancy grew up with a deep love for learning and a strong sense of community. She graduated from St. Rose de Lima Elementary School and continued her education at St. Joseph Academy High School, where she formed lasting friendships and fostered a strong foundation in faith. She later pursued higher education at Louisiana State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree, before completing a master’s degree in education at the University of New Orleans. Nancy’s passion for teaching led her to a fulfilling career at St. Edward the Confessor School in Metairie, Louisiana, where she dedicated herself to the academic and personal growth of her students. After many years in the classroom, she retired, leaving behind a legacy of knowledge, compassion, and dedication.
Nancy’s life was marked by her deep commitment to family and faith.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Charles “Chuck” Webre Jr.; her two daughters, Tara St. John (Wayne) and Ashley Lee (Steven); her son, Ryan Charles Webre (Alicia); and her five cherished grandchildren, Makayla St. John, Wayne St. John Jr., Landon Webre, Eloise Webre, and Grayson Lee. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Mona Webre Robin and Eve Jeansonne; her nieces, Kristina Braud and Jennifer Robin; and her nephews, Jean Pierre Jeansonne and Andre Robin Jr.
Nancy had a passion for many things in life. She was a member of Pelican Athletic Club and loved scrapbooking, cooking, and spending quality time with her grandchildren, whom she adored. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a devoted parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mandeville, Louisiana, where she served with grace and humility.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to loving friends Joe and Michelle Chautin, Bill and Debbie Sellers, as well as Summer Copeland and Mary Kennedy of Sage Lake Senior Living, the nurses with TLC Caregivers—Loretta Lewis and Jennifer Quinn—and Phillip Soileau with Harmony Hospice for their compassionate and loving care.
A memorial Mass will be held in her honor at the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 11:00 AM, with interment to be private.
