Mildred Sabrio Finney

Mildred Sabrio Finney, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at the age of 87. Mildred is preceded in death by her husband, John G. Finney, Jr. She is survived by her children; Kathleen Finney Becnel, Karen Finney Duhé (Leroy), Kevin Patrick Finney, John Gabriel Finney, III, M.D. (Karen), Kerry Michael Finney (Dana) and Kyle Finney Taylor (Christopher); grandchildren, Bridget, Kelly, Meghan, Ryan, Jenny, Katherine, Benjamin, Kevin, Jr., Stephen, Kristen, John, IV, Kyle, Michelle, Ashley, Christopher, 6 great grandchildren and Mimi’s companion Carla Fischer. Mildred was also preceded in death by her parents, Isabel Marie Becnel Sabrio and Henri Pierre Sabrio; siblings, Albert, Robert and Henry Sabrio. Mildred was born in the French Quarter and was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a graduate of John McDonogh High School and Soule Business College. During World War II, she worked at the Port of Embarkation and later retired from the Orleans Parish School Board.

Visitation will be at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street on Sunday, November 4, 2012 between the hours of 6:30 PM and 8:30 PM.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Louis Cathedral, 615 Pere Antoine Alley, New Orleans, LA on Monday, November 5, 2012 at 10:00 AM (no visitation prior to Mass) Interment will follow in St. Louis #3 Cemetery. Masses preferred. Condolences may be expressed online at www.schoencanalstreet.com
