Meridith Barclay LeBlanc passed into eternal life on December 25, 2022 at her home in Covington, LA. Mere was her preferred nickname as she bristled at the term ‘Grandma’. On her last day she was surrounded by family members to include her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was born in New Orleans on February 26, 1946 to Alicé Róbert and Edward Barclay. Meridith was married for 34 plus wonderful years to Dennis LeBlanc and together they raised her five daughters – Lisa Grisaffi, Laura Bordelon, Tammy Tisher (Alan), Monique Romagosa, and Michelle Irwin (Chris)- and his two sons – Andrew and Ryan LeBlanc (Kristi). She had 10 grandchildren: Mason, Dylan, Pierson, Justin, Joshua, Madison, Harrison, Mary Reynolds, Hope, and Litt; and three great grandchildren: Turk, Harland, and Max. She leaves behind a sister, Kevin Flaugh (Greg), and a brother, Craig Barclay.
The highlight of her life was living in Germany for 13 years while her husband worked as a civilian for the US Army Europe in Heidelberg. She immensely enjoyed her time travelling throughout Europe. While living in Heidelberg Mere managed a German souvenir shop in the Post Exchange and later worked for the General Manager on the ‘Ghostbuster’ team, resolving issues throughout the store. During this time she often dressed as a clown and Mrs. Santa Claus for many promotional occasions in Heidelberg and Mannheim. Of note was an award she received from an Italian manufacturer of porcelain flowers for her creation of designs for gifts, especially during Valentine’s Day. The company could not keep up with demand, they were so popular within the military community.
Christmas was her favorite holiday and as she struggled her last few days, she seemed to be trying to hold on until Christmas day- and she did. She was able to share her presents with family on Christmas Eve.
She was a devoted Christian woman who loved her Lord and Savior and was active in church work for many years.
The family offers their gratitude to the wonderful folks at St Tammany Hospice who comforted Mere during her last few weeks on this earth.
