Marlene Hecker Jacobs

Marlene Hecker Jacobs, a native of New Orleans and resident of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2022 at the age of 84. She was born on January 10, 1938 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Mayme Hecker Ahola and John Hecker. Marlene was married to her Soul Mate, Edward Jacobs, Sr. for 44 years.

Marlene received her Bachelors of Arts Degree in Education from LSUNO. She was an admired schoolteacher of English at Carolyn Park Middle in Arabi. She touched the lives of so many with her extreme warmth, kindness and thoughtfulness. She went above and beyond to recognize every birthday, anniversary and accomplishment of her family and friends. Marlene was an avid Saints fan for many years. She always enjoyed cooking meals for her family. She loved old classic movies, the Opera and Ballet. In her later years, she learned to paint and enjoyed traveling.

Marlene is preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward Adrian Jacobs; her son, Edward Jacobs, Jr.; and her parents, Mayme Hecker Ahola and John Hecker. She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Jacobs Wyatt (Jeffrey); her sons, Bruce Jacobs (Gail) and Carl Jacobs (Caron); her brothers, Robert Hecker (Paulette) and John Hecker; her granddaughter, Cristin Jacobs; her nephew, Lance Hecker; her nieces, Barbara Hardeman (Thomas), Kathy Durand (George), and Maylene Robinson; and eight grand nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass on Friday, March 18, 2022 beginning at 2:00 PM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home located at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. The visitation will begin at 12:00 PM. Interment in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum will follow the Mass.
