Marilyn Louise Webster LaNasa

She attended Lakeview Grammar School, Eleanor McMain Secondary School, and Warren Easton High School, graduating in 1954. She then graduated from Charity Hospital School of X-Ray Technology in 1956. Marilyn worked at East Jefferson General Hospital for 25 years before retiring.

Marilyn was a member of Alpha Beta Sigma Sorority in high school. She was a very active member of St. Dominic School’s Mothers Club and the Council of Catholic School Cooperative Club (CCSCC), where she was president of both organizations for numerous years. In later years, she was a member of the Ladies Leukemia League, Inc. (LLL) and Les Nouvelles. Through her husband Matt, she was associated with the Krewe of Anubis.

She enjoyed spending time in her garden, playing tennis and cards with friends, traveling to Europe, shopping, dinner dates, and hosting family and friends for all holidays and life events.

Marilyn was a devoted mother and grandmother and was very involved in her childrens’ and grandchildrens’ lives. She attended numerous dance recitals, baseball, football and lacrosse games, soccer tournaments, high school dance team performances, swim meets and piano and band concerts and hosted numerous sleepovers. She loved cheering on the LSU Tigers, especially baseball, with her husband, Matt. Marilyn was the happiest when spending time with her family.

Marilyn was a devout Catholic, and a parishioner of St. Clement of Rome Church in Metairie, where she volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Matthew Albert LaNasa, her parents, Alfred W. Webster and Marietta Lofaso Webster, and sister, Marietta (Pat) W. Sigerson.

She is survived by her five daughters, Robin LaNasa, Jane LaNasa Barnes (Daniel), Melanie LaNasa Garland, Ellen LaNasa Loop (Walter), and Missy LaNasa Reynolds (Sean), and her sister, Darleen W. Christiansen (Jack). She also had seven grandchildren, Walter II, Megan, and Tyler Loop; Lauren and Nicholas Barnes; and Caroline and Hailey Reynolds.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Friday, May 17, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Mass to follow at 12 noon. Burial will be private.
