MariaElena was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 34 years, Guillermo Orlando Perez, Sr.; her parents, Victor Manuel Sosa-Marroquin and Adelaida Garcia; her sister, Maria del Carmen Sosa de Perez; her brothers, Virgilio Sosa and Ruben Sosa; and her Godchildren, William Perez and Jose “Pepe” Perez.

MariaElena is survived by her loving children, Nancy Elaine Perez Conrad (Mike) and Guillermo “Bill” Perez, Jr. (Christian); her grandchildren, Chandler, Logan, Peyton, and Victoria Conrad; Ahna, Evalyn, and Nicholas Perez; her sister, Manuela Sosa de Castro; and her Godchildren, Zurama Santis, Chata Espana, Dina Grajeda de Simas, Carol Castro de Lopez, and Victor Hugo Castro.

MariaElena was born on February 29, 1936 in Guatemala City, Guatemala. She was a seamstress, and was also a founding member of the Louisiana Association de Guatemala en Louisiana. She loved gardening, photography, dancing, and traveling.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Michael Conrad for his loving devotion to our mother, and to Mrs. Joy Morales and Mrs. Isa Valido for always looking out for her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Divine Providence Catholic Church, 1000 N. Starrett Rd. in Metairie, on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 11:00AM. Immediately following the Mass, everyone is invited for a memorial gathering at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, from 1:30PM until 5:00PM.
