She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Scannell Butler, Jr. and Unola Butler, nee Perrin, both of New Orleans, and two brothers, Edward Scannell Butler, III of Slidell and Perrin Charles Butler of New Orleans.
Lynn is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Thomas Heise Mauney, of New Orleans; her three children, Christopher Emile, Courtney Elizabeth, and Craig Emory Ycaza, all of New Orleans; and a step-daughter, Melanie Elise Mauney of Metairie and her son, Gabe Lucroy; as well as her brother, Rhett Thomas Butler of Troy, Alabama, his wife, Sandra, and their two daughters, Ashley and Allison. Lynn is also survived by one granddaughter, Emory Lynne Ycaza, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Lynn graduated from Prytania Private High School, where she was nominated Homecoming Queen her senior year. She will be remembered not only for her beauty, gregarious nature, and sense of humor, but for her giving nature and near superhuman strength and resilience in the face of a debilitating disease. Lynn made her career managing the reception desks of physicians’ offices, retiring from the offices of Dr. Charles Mary, Jr. after 21 years. She was an avid family historian and font of New Orleans historical lore. While still able, Lynn loved to dance; unfortunately, for her partners, she also loved to lead. Lynn was a lifelong Catholic and born animal lover. After raising her three children, she turned to rescuing and caring for stray and abandoned animals, leading to impromptu and unofficial domestic petting zoos, which followed her from New Orleans to Troy. Lynn led a prodigious life in animal years, and was survived, in the end, by her one, beloved Faith, a Corgi/Terrier mix.
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 from 11:00AM until 1:00PM. A graveside service will follow the visitation in Metairie Cemetery at the Butler Family tomb.
