Lynn E. Dantin also referred to by a few close friends as “Frog”, left the arms of his childhood sweetheart, friend, and wife of 58 ½ years, Donna Marullo Dantin, to be escorted into heaven in the morning of February 28, 2022. He was born in New Orleans on July 27, 1942 to the late Clarence Dantin and the late Eva Gautreaux Dantin. He is the father of Vicki Dantin Bailey (Scott) and Rebecca “Becky” Perilloux (Craig); the grandfather (called “Potts”) of Christian Bailey, Brooke Bailey, Evan Perilloux, and Kaylee Perilloux; the brother of Diane Dantin Dunn (Mike); the brother-in-law of Judge Frank A. Marullo, Jr. (Jackie); the uncle of Richard Marullo (Tammy), Gina Marullo Collier (Eddie), Frank Marullo, III, the late Pascal Marullo, Kerry Fatheree Hanks (Kevin), Matthew Dunn, Erin Dunn Cole (David), Sara Dunn Johnson (Stephen), Justin Dunn (Nikkole), and will also be missed by a host of grand nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews and godchildren, and was considered uncle to many more. Numerous friends who are considered family, longtime friends of De La Salle High School (Class of 1960), and a group of St. Mary’s Dominican Parents are also remembered by the family.
Lynn was a lifelong active parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church in Metairie, a member of Center of Jesus the Lord, a volunteer of Soles of Christ Good Friday Walk, a charter member of S.F.X. Knights of Columbus, a yearly retreatant of Manressa, and had been active in Mardi Gras parades as a rider in M.G. “67” Carnival Club, Endymion, and Caesar.
He was employed throughout his life with Winn Dixie, Coca-Cola Bottling Co., Regal Beer Co., Neil Kaye Schlitz Distributing Company, William B. Reily Standard Coffee Service Co., and New Orleans Criminal District Court.
Lynn loved cruising, having done over 35. He was very humorous and brought laughter to many.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Dan Nuss and the staff of Our Lady of the Lake Hospital and Rehab in Baton Rouge, Family Home Care, Notre Dame Hospice, and his dedicated sitter, Angela Atkins.
In lieu of flowers, masses are preferred or donations can be made to sinus and brain cancer research.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 444 Metairie Road Metairie, LA 70005. Visitation will begin at 9:30AM followed by a Mass at 11:30AM. A reception will be held in his honor at St. Joseph Hall following the services. Burial will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at Lake Lawn Park, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd New Orleans, LA 70124. The family requests masses and donations be sent towards Brain and Sinus Cancer Research.
