Louis graduated from Warren Easton High School and McNeese State, where he played football. He served in the Army National Guard and retired as Captain of the New Orleans Fire Department. Louis was a parishioner of St. Dominic Catholic Church. He had a passion for restoring vintage cars, especially hot rods. Louis will be forever remembered as a man that was always willing to lend a hand to anybody, if it was his it was also yours.
Louis is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Rosalie Blondo Gentry. He is survived by his sons Louis J. Gentry, Jr. (Kim) and Joseph M. Gentry (Cherie); grandson Luca J. Gentry.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of East Jefferson Hospital for their compassionate care.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Monday, January 2, 2022 beginning at 10:00am followed by Funeral Mass at 12:00pm at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, 775 Harrison Ave, New Orleans, LA 70124. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park and Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, Masses preferred.
