On Tuesday, December 3, Keil North was called home to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Keil is survived by his wife of 43 years and the love of his life, Debra North, and two daughters, Katelyn McGibney (Shawn McGibney) and Meredith North. Keil was the son of the late Earl T. North and Rita L. North. He was the brother of the late Lorenza H. Knight (Joan Knight), the late Lawrie Lehmann (Dr. Edward Lehmann), Kimet Taylor (Robert Taylor), Earl North (Monica North), and the late Kellen Trosclair (Barry Trosclair). In addition to being a beloved husband and father, Keil was a wonderful uncle to many nieces and nephews, as well as a cherished father-in-law and friend. Keil was born on October 30, 1955, in New Orleans, Louisiana. A gifted athlete and student, Keil received the award for "Most Outstanding Player" for baseball his senior year of high school and attended Nicholls State University on a full athletic scholarship. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Louisiana State University and a Master of Arts in The Department of Human Performance and Health Promotion from the University of New Orleans. He spent the majority of his career with LSU Health Sciences and held the position of Director of Rehab Services at University Medical Center at the time of his passing. Keil enjoyed many personal successes as well, first and foremost of which was his long and happy marriage to Debra. Known as "Mr. Disney" to his family, Keil loved Disney World more than most children, and looked forward to the annual trips he would take with his family. A talented cook, Keil would express his love for food and family through his wonderful home-cooked meals. He was also an avid music lover, something that he shared with his late father and children. Despite his innumerable personal and professional accomplishments, Keil's legacy will undoubtedly be the way in which his life embodied his deep and unfailing faith, which he revealed to everyone around him through his humility, love, kindness, and compassion. Relatives and friends are invited to attend services held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA on Saturday, December 14, 2024. Visitation will be from 11:00AM until the service begins at 1:00PM.
