Joyce Brown Steimle

Joyce Brown Steimle, age 77, died at Fidelis Residence in Mandeville, Louisiana on Wednesday, May 25, 2022. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Stephen Edward Steimle; her parents, Storm M. and Cecile Dickinson Brown; her brother, Malcolm S. Brown, Sr.; and her brother-in-law Gerald Ganucheau.

Joyce is survived by her three daughters, Yvette S. Murphy (Steve), Kathleen Oberly (Dan), and Jeanne Dufour (Ron); a son, Karl S. Steimle (Kristin); three sisters, Cecile Diehl (Edward), Ethel Ganucheau, and Marilyn Villarrubia (Neal); a brother, Charles Brown (Natasha); eight grandchildren, Christina Dufour, Matthew Murphy, Michelle Murphy, Ben Murphy (Kaitlin), Abigail Dufour, Joshua Dufour, Lyla Steimle, and Ella Steimle; and a sister-in-law, Judith Brown. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was born in New Orleans on November 26, 1944. She was a graduate of Dominican High School and Soule Business School. For over 20 years, she was part owner and secretary/manager of Steimle & Associates. She was also a secretary with St. Stephen Catholic School.

Joyce lived in River Ridge for many years, and was a parishioner at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church. She was also a Eucharistic minister at her parish and East Jefferson General Hospital.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Sheleta Jones, Serenity Residence, Fidelis Residence, and Compassus Hospice of Mandeville for the care and compassion given to Joyce.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 11:00AM. The visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 9:00AM. The interment will follow the Mass at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, 2805 Bayou Rd. in St. Bernard, Louisiana.
