Joseph “Joe” Peter Sunseri, age 92 died peacefully at his Kenner, Louisiana home. Born in New Orleans, Mr. Sunseri is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Sunseri; his mother, Mary Polito Sunseri; his brothers, Joseph Vincent, Dominic and Philip, and sister, Mary Sunseri Mangeracina.
Mr. Sunseri is survived by his beloved wife Marilyn LeBon Sunseri; his sons, Joseph Sunseri III (Dona) and Stephen Sunseri (Illiana); stepsons, Keith Hoffman and Kevin Hoffman (Patty, deceased); grandchildren, Joseph Sunseri, IV, Mary Sunseri and Natalie Sunseri and step-grandsons, Hunter Hoffman and Ryan Costa, and brother John Sunseri.
Joe loved people and had friends everywhere he went. He loved to travel with his wife and grandchildren who affectionately called him Big Daddy.
As a child, Joe worked in his father’s French Market butcher shop. At 17, he joined the Airforce where he was Lackland Airforce Base Boxing Champion. While stationed in Germany, Joe went on to serve in Airforce Intelligence during the cold war with the 6910th Security Services Radio Group. Following his service, Joe worked for Schlitz Brewing Company, Neal Coy Distributors, and the City of Kenner.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, May21, 2024, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, Louisiana 70124 at 11am. Visitation will begin at 9am. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park and Mausoleums.
