Joseph Sciortino, Jr. entered into heaven on December 10, 2016 at the age of 91. He leaves behind his four children Salvador Sciortino, Nancy Scandaliato, Joseph Sciortino (Donna) and Cal Sciortino (Cathy); four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank his loving companion for the past 8 years, Carol Dendinger. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Eleanor Sciortino, his beloved wife of 51 years, Nancy D’Antoni Sciortino and four brothers, Jack, Phil, Warren and Maurice. He completed many accomplishments in his life; his greatest was being a father. He was also a musician and during his time in the Army he was an X-Ray Technician. He owned and operated his own business, Josef’s Salon of Beauty. Joseph also sold furniture at Hurwitz Mintz and Levitz, and in his 70’s worked security at East Jefferson General Hospital. Most recently, from the age 80 to present, he worked at Rouse’s in Mandeville in guest relations. His determination and will to live was immeasurable. Joseph loved life and people and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
