John, loving husband to Marsha Dewar Hope, of 65 years, spent a large portion of his life as a hard-working flooring salesman, known as more of a friend and extended family member to his customers always seen driving his faithful 1984 Red Ford Van.
As the second “King” of the Metairie Mardi Gras Krewe, Centurions and later a respected member of the Krewe of Caesar, John loved Mardi Gras and spending many of his years active in those organizations.
Though it was his love to his wife, daughters and grandchildren that were unparalleled, his admiration and joy watching the LSU Tigers, The New Orleans Saints and the John Curtis football team, brought him endless years of entertainment, joy and even “edge of his seat nervousness” watching close games.
John is survived by his wife Marsha Dewar Hope; his three children, Denise Hope Gaspard, Debbie Kay Hope, Kellie Hope Mathas; sons-in-law, Allen B. Mathas Jr. and Terry Gaspard; five grandchildren, Finn Hope Taylor, Alison Hope Taylor, Lauren Hope Wright, Cole McGregor Mathas and Carly Hope Mathas, and many nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his seven siblings: Dorothy, Marguerite, Kenneth, Alva, Otis, Nolan & Billie.
