John M. Dorsa, Sr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rosalie Dorsa; his son, Michael Dorsa (Karen); his sister, Marie Fendlason; and his brother, Anthony Dorsa.

John is survived by his wife of 68 years, Josephine Maggio Dorsa; his two sons, John Dorsa, Jr. (Debbie) and Joel Dorsa (Charmaine); his grandchildren, Brooke Cornelius (Casey), Clayton Dorsa, Corey Dorsa, Rachel Dorsa (Jonathan), Jason Dorsa (Shannon), Alyssa Machacek (Thomas), and Rebecca Dorsa (Peter); and his great-grandchildren, Bowen, Bellamy, Bexleigh, Layla, Theo, and Arthur.

John was born in Tickfaw, Louisiana on April 2, 1934, and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He worked with Atlas Steel, and was a supervisor with the American Can Company for over 30 years. John enjoyed bowling, hunting, pitching horseshoes, and spending time with his grandkids. He also coached little league baseball in Driftwood Park.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice for their care and compassion.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11:00AM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 9:30AM. The interment will follow the chapel service at All Saints Mausoleum.
