John began his life's adventure at the young age of seventeen as a Barber at the Lakeview Barber Shop on Marshal Foch St. in New Orleans. So many young boys received their first haircut from him and he was extremely well known and respected. In the 1950's, when drag racing was so popular he got involved in NHRA racing and was active with his brother, Joe, in the sport for many years. His passion and enthusiasm then turned to the restoration of antique cars. As a young boy he attended St. Stephen's School and was an altar boy at St. Stephen's Catholic Church. As the husband of an officer in the Krewe of Iris, he actively served as a Court Committee Member. Additionally, he marched with the Honorary Grand Marshals of the Metairie Road St. Patrick's Parade. In 1999, he began attending Mass at St. Louis Cathedral, and became a Minister of Hospitality, Eucharistic Minister of the Holy Eucharist, and received the Order of St. Louis Award in 2004. John was known for his warm smile and welcoming demeanor, making everyone feel at home in his presence. His devotion to his Catholic faith was unwavering. He had a hand in the Real Estate business in addition to forty-five years in the Pest Control industry and co-owner of J&C Pest Control.
As a family man, John cherished the time spent with his loved ones. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and support will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
