Janice Platt Dey passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 after a brief illness. She was 90 years of age. Janice was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, born to Clyde C. Platt and Anita Lambert Platt on June 19, 1925. For many years, she was a volunteer at the New Orleans Museum of Art, a longtime member of the New Orleans Country Club and was a Lady of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, Harold S. Dey; sons Douglas D. Dey and David P. Dey; and her sister, Edith P. Lynch. She is survived by her daughters Barbara A. Dey and Melanie A. Dey, and son, Christopher C. Dey. Janice also is survived by her sister, Charlotte P. Combe; her sister-in-law, Myrle M. Dey; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA, on Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by Mass at the Lake Lawn Metairie Chapel celebrated by Fr. Donald Saunders, S.J. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Masses or donations to the charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank St. Joseph Hospice for their excellent care of Janice.
