Jan Collura Carnesi, age 58, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother CiCi, aunt, great aunt, friend, and avid cat lover, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 12, 2024 at her home in Kenner, Louisiana.
She was born on January 17, 1966 to Evelyn Wolfe Collura and Salvador Collura. Jan graduated from Archbishop Chapelle High School and then attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She met the love of her life, Robert Harold Carnesi, Jr. on a blind date at the Krewe of Caesar ball in 1988. They dated long distance until they were married on May 19, 1990, at which time Jan moved to Huntsville, Alabama to start their new life together. Here they welcomed their first child, Robert Harold Carnesi III Trey (wife, Noel). After five years in Huntsville, they relocated to Mobile, Alabama where they welcomed their second son, Austin Michael Carnesi. They resided in Mobile for almost twenty wonderful years and then moved to Kenner, Louisiana to be closer to family.
Jan treasured her time with her children and was filled with joy when she took on the new role as CiCi (grandmother to Juliana Marie Carnesi). Jan not only kept her immediate family close to heart, but also her extended family. She adored her sisters, brother, sisters-in-law, brothers-in- law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Jan will always be remembered and cherished for her selflessness, her love of cats, travel, Disney, the beach, completing 10K races, and being a kloset diva. Most of all, she will be remembered for her loyalty to her family and friends. We could have not asked for a better wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. We will miss her smile and the joy that she brought to so many lives every single day.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 4337 Sal Lentini Parkway, in Kenner on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 11:30am. A visitation will be held in the church beginning at 10:00am.
One of the joys of Jan’s life was her participation in helping the cats of Lafreniere Park with the Cat Crew. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Lafreniere Volunteers Civic Association so their good work can continue in her honor. www.lafrenierevolunteers.com
