James Ortgeo passed away on April 29, 2024 at the age of 95. Beloved husband of the late Edna McMains Ortego. Father of the late Peggy Smith and her late husband, Roy, and Jill Weeks (Ronnie). Grandfather of two grandsons, Jim and Rory and two great-grandsons, Corbett and Logan. Preceded in death by his parents, Ethel Barbay and Glynn Ortego and granddaughter, Melissa Smith. He served in the Army during WWII and Korean War. He retired from Western Electric. Jim was an avid golfer and belonged to Square and Round Dance Clubs and The “Dragons” and American Legion (Post 137). Relatives and friends are invited to attend services held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA on Friday, May 3, 2024. A visitation will begin at 10:00am until mass at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery.
