Francis was a graduate of De La Salle High School in New Orleans, and University of Louisiana Lafayette.
Married to Mary Beth Plaisance until her passing in August 2022, they built a beautiful life together during their 57 years of marriage.
His life’s career was as a Paleontologist. He retired from his position as President of Paleo-Data, Inc. in 2002 to pursue his passions of hunting, fishing, cycling, raising exotic wildlife on his ranch in Picayune, MS, and travelling the world with his wife Mary Beth Plaisance. In his heyday, he completed several marathons and travelled to compete in triathlons.
Francis is survived by his sons, Kevin Michael Plaisance and Paul Francis Plaisance; and his daughters-in-law, Sarah Plaisance and Angi Plaisance.
He was the proud “Grampy” to four grandchildren from Kevin and Sarah (Catherine, Michael, Camille and Caroline) and three grandchildren from Paul and Angi (Alexander, Lucas and James). He was a friend and mentor to many, and truly made a difference in the lives of those lucky enough to know him.
In addition to his beloved wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents, Nelle and Francis Plaisance, Sr.; his sister, Linda Plaisance Knecht; and his brother, Kerry Plaisance, Sr.
According to his wishes, he was cremated and a private gathering for family and friends will take place in the near future.
