Emily Jo Truett was born on September 1st 1953 in Miami Beach, Florida. Emily was a self-made business owner and account executive, forming Emily Truett, Inc. Emily spent most of her adult life in Oak Park, Illinois, where she was instrumental in the formation of the Keystone Montessori School. In her later years, Emily was a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana where she was an avid gardener, crafter, and music lover. Emily was a Mardi Gras enthusiast and proud member of the Krewe of Mishigas, where she hailed as Queen in 2019. Emily was also a member of the Krewe of Orpheus and rode in their 2023 parade. Emily is survived by her daughter Jessica Jean Truett, “daughters of the heart” Margo Truett-Ouellette and Inga Mittendorf, and siblings June Martin and Richard Woolf. Emily passed peacefully at home after a short illness. A celebration of life for Emily will take place on Saturday May 13th. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted by any of the charities listed below.
