Elizabeth C. Montz “Betty” Cobb passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022, after a brief illness. She was a native New Orleanian born in May 1929, a resident of Harahan, LA for the past 65 years, and more recently at St. Francis Villa Assisted Living following Hurricane Ida.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene E. “Gene” Cobb; son, Marc G. Cobb (Cherie); and her parents, Roger F. Montz and Julie Lefort Montz. Survived by her children: Roger E. Cobb (Patricia), Judith C. Valenza (John, Jr.), David C. Cobb (Robin), Susan C. Cohagan (Randall), Jean C. Hill (Michael), and Chris P. Cobb (Patricia), as well as eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and a very close friend of the family, Oscar B. “Dale” Goff, Jr.
After graduating from McMain High School, she attended Loyola University and earned degrees in Primary/Secondary Education and in Music. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, teacher, and friend to all who met her. She enjoyed reading, cooking, shopping, and volunteering as a docent at the Beauregard-Keys House in the French Quarter for thirteen years. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
