After graduating from St. Aloysius High School, he served in the Merchant Marines at the age of 17. He was later drafted into the United States Army where he served overseas for several years. He was an incredibly industrious man who began working at the age of 15 at the City Park Casino as a soda jerk and up until this day would still tell you how to make a great malt. He worked for his dad at his shop, Royal Cedar Chest Works. As an adult he was a sales manager at Rental Uniform Services. Upon his "retirement" he went to work at his favorite job as a wedding manager at Southern Oaks. He worked at Southern Oaks for 30 years and finally retired at the ripe old age of 95. He was affectionately known as “POPES” to the employees of Southern Oaks where he taught them professionalism and hard work.
After retiring at the age of 95, he spent more time doing the things he loved like watching the New Orleans Saints and LSU Football games. He was also a big fan of big band music and was especially partial to Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Edward was known for his quick wit and unwavering devotion to his family. Those lucky enough to have known him will surely miss his presence in their lives.
