Ed was born in Houma, La. on January 15, 1952. Ed graduated Salutatorian from Vandebilt High School in Houma La, attended Tulane University and graduated from LSU Medical School in 1977.
He did his internship and residency in the Army at Tripler Army Medical Center, retiring as a Major.
In 1985, following his service in the Army, Ed joined Orthopedic Associates of New Orleans, practicing at Touro Infirmary. Later, in 2000, he relocated with his family to Nashville, where he established his private practice, Kennett Orthopedic Center, in Kennett Mo. He thrived in his practice and was blessed by the support, loyalty, and hard work from his dedicated staff. He loved his staff like family. Despite attempts to retire in 2020, the heartfelt lure of his calling led him to Ochsner Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA, where he continued to practice part-time. A gracious encore for him.
He was a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a member of the American College of Sports Medicine.
Ed’s passions were his family and Medicine. He led a life of humble service and practiced Medicine with kindness, integrity and excellence. Medicine truly was a ‘calling’ for him. He lived a charmed life, appreciating the ability to practice medicine, and grateful for the love of his family.
He enjoyed spending time with his wife Kit and his children; and most of all his grandchildren who he loved with all his heart. They brought him immense joy. He was the ever-present neighborhood doctor, the camp doctor each summer at Camp Merrie-Woode in North Carolina; and the Metairie Park Country Day football doctor. In his free time, Ed could be found relaxing, having a good time, finding the humor and beauty in life, and reading a good mystery, spy, or historical novel.
Ed was a true southern gentleman. He led with humility and patience and eloquence.
Ed was beloved and will be missed by all the lives he touched and the many he transformed by his quiet loving presence.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend the Funeral at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Friday March 1, 2024. Visitation will begin at Noon. Mass at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow.
