Edmond Charles Blancher, Sr. a retired HVAC Business Owner passed away on September 27, 2022 at the age of 97. He was born on July 6, 1925 in New Orleans to Oscar J. Blancher and Edith Schindler Blancher. Edmond served in the United States Navy during World War II on USS Downs DD375. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Kenner.
Edmond was a hugh LSU football fan and had season tickets for years. He loved going on cruises with his wife. He was very personable and loved having coffee and talking with his customers. Edmond was very proud of the company he started in 1976, Ed Blancher Service, Inc., which is still operating today; 4 generations strong. He instilled in his children and grandchildren his high standards of work ethics. He enjoyed feeding the neighborhood cats and squirrels.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 75 years Shirley Wise Blancher; his parents Oscar J. Blancher and Edith Schindler Blancher; and his brothers Oscar Blancher, Robert Blancher and Alton Blancher.
He is survived by his loving children Kathy Hollinger (Glen), Lynn Huggins (John), Cynthia Huggins (Paul), Susan Thibodeaux, Raymond Blancher, Ronald Blancher (Donna), Edmond Blancher, Jr. (Malinda); 16 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren; his sister Verlyn Barbier and a host of many other relatives and friends.
The family would like to give special thanks to the sitters from Visiting Angels, especially Lourdes and Lisa. Also, Chanel from Live Good at Home for all their care and support.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 12 PM until 2 PM. A Funeral Mass will begin at 2 PM. Interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum in New Orleans.
