On February 25, 2011, at the age of 68, after a 7 year courageous battle with lung cancer, Dorothy Ann Aufdemorte-Nuccio, a much loved and admired mother, grandmother, sister and friend left this world to go to Jesus her Lord and Savior to be reunited with her parents, Dorothy and Theodore Garic Aufdemorte. She taught us how to cherish family, live with faith in God, suffer gracefully and finish the course God planned for her. She is sadly missed by her loving companion, Anthony Joseph Mistretta, her beloved children: Troy Anthony Rauch and his wife Kristen and Tracy Rauch Wolfe and her husband Thomas, three adored grandchildren: Madison, Meghan and Hugo; her brother Theodore Garic Aufdemorte II and his wife, Carolyn, her sister June Catherine Aufdemorte and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces especially Shannon Ordes. She was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. "Dottie" as she was known to many was a graduate of St. James Major High School and Soule Business School. Dorothy was a 45 year associate of the Hotel Monteleone. She devoted herself as a Catholic Parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Church. She fulfilled the scripture that says she has fought the good fight, she finished the race, she kept the faith. Now there is in store for her a crown of righteousness. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation Thursday night, March 3rd beginning 6:00 to 9:00PM at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, and on Friday the 4th at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00AM in the chapel of Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home.
