DONALD HUET MADDEN September 29, 1924 – June 27, 2015 Donald Huet Madden, age 90, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on June 27, 2015. He was born in New Orleans to the late Leonard Ritchie Madden and Lucille Haro Madden. He was the beloved husband of Leatrice Selle Madden for 67 years; devoted father of Donna Madden Casselli and Debra Madden Courtney (Richard); Grandfather of Dana Casselli Simon, Marin Casselli Murphy (Darren), Lauren Courtney Mastio (Stewart), and Matthew Ross Courtney; and Great-grandfather of Savannah Grace Simon, Madden Caroline Mastio, and Caelen Kyler Murphy. Mr. Madden was a lifelong resident of New Orleans who attended Jesuit High School and Warren Easton High School. He also attended Tulane University where he majored in Architecture and Civil Engineering. After Tulane, Mr. Madden enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served his country during WWII. Mr. Madden was employed by New Orleans Public Service Inc. where he was manager of the Commercial, Industrial and Government & Municipal Sales Division. Mr. Madden belonged to numerous organizations including, but not limited to, Mt. Olive Lutheran Church where he served on the Building Committee and was instrumental in the design and building of the Church and its altar. He also helped design and build Lakeside Country Club in Metairie, LA. He was an officer of the Electrical Association of New Orleans, Inc. He served as an Area Governor of Toastmaster’s International and received the award for Distinguished Service, and chaired a successful fundraising campaign for NOPSI. Mr. Madden’s lifelong interest in sailing led to his membership in Southern Yacht Club where he raced his sailboat. This also led to his support of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation. He was a member of the New Orleans City Park Improvement Association and was also an avid golfer who played there regularly. During Mardi Gras, Mr. Madden enjoyed his membership in the Krewe of Hermes. Mr. Madden’s priorities in life were his faith in God, his unconditional love for his beloved wife, Lea, his family and his church. The funeral service for Donald Huet Madden was held on June 29, 2015. Rev. Bradley A. Drew of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church officiated. The burial was in Metairie Cemetery.
