Donald Joseph Daly, of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away suddenly on the morning of June 2, 2022 at Ochsner hospital after complications from a fall. He was 84 years old. Don is survived by his four children Brian Daly, Michelle Daly, Donnelle (Andrew) Lester, David (Megan) Daly, and grandson Andrew Ian Lester. Don was born to Anna Tortorich Daly and Joseph David Daly on November 15, 1937 in New Orleans. An only child, Don had a large extended family and considered several cousins as his de facto siblings with whom he remained close throughout his life. Don graduated from St. Aloysius High School in 1955 and attended Loyola University for one year. He served six months of active duty in the US Army, and remained in the Reserves while working at NOPSI. Don later joined Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, which launched his lifelong career in the insurance industry. He started his own insurance agency in the 1970s, received his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) certification in 1979, and never fully retired. He continued selling insurance and serving his clients until his passing. A 4th generation New Orleanian, Don descended from Italian immigrants who arrived in the city in the late 1800s. He loved the Saints, held season tickets for several years, and never missed a game. Don was second to none on the social scene and loved to hold court and regale all with wild stories. He leaves a host of friends who mourn his loss.
