Dr. Bonnie Jean Burt passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014 after a brief illness. She was 74. Bonnie was the daughter of the late Dr. Lawrence William Burt and Mary Elise Merriam. Survivors include her brother, Bill Burt, also nieces and nephews Kristen Burt Martin, Heather Burt Dauzat, Billy Burt and Barbara Elise Burt.
A native and lifelong resident of New Orleans, Bonnie was a graduate of Ursuline Academy, Newcomb College and received her Doctorate of Education from the University of New Orleans. She was a teacher of gifted students in the Jefferson Parish Public School System for over 35 years. She was a coach for the Academic Games program and led numerous award winning teams to the National Tournaments. Bonnie loved to travel with her mother and was a passionate Saints and Tulane fan.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 11:00 AM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 9:00 AM. A private interment will be held at a later date.
