Bodin was a generous and loving husband and father. He was a devoted catholic, parishioner of Our Lady of Divine Providence Roman Catholic Church (OLDP) and recipient of the Regina Matrum Award (N.O. Archdiocese). He loved a good party – celebrating life with his wife, friends, and family at his home in Kenner, LA. Bodin also enjoyed traveling throughout his retirement - visiting places like Alaska, Seattle, Washington, DC, Florida, NYC, the Panama Canal, and Italy. On several of his adventures he could be found climbing hills, zip gliding, paragliding, jogging, dancing with friends and family, and playing the piano for all to enjoy.
Bodin was born in Houston, TX on January 22, 1930. He served in the US Air Force and worked for Shell Oil Company from 1957-1990 – retiring as a Senior Staff Engineer. During his professional career he earned his master’s degree in mechanical engineering and professional engineering license. Mr. Hugger was also civic minded – volunteering for more than 40 years as a board member at the Louisiana Federal Credit Union, OLDP church choir member, church lecturer, and school fair. He donated blood until he was told he could not, volunteered as an election worker, as a proctor at math counts, and as a helper at many Chef Soiree’ fundraising events. He was also a member of the Louisiana Engineering Society and Tau Beta Pi - Engineering Honor Society.
Bodin’s family would like to give special thanks to Mr. Bill Collins for being Daddy’s best friend and colleague for more than 40 years. He loved you so very much and held you dear to his heart.
Bodin was preceded in death by parents Fritz F. Hugger and Antionette Bodin, and brother Fritz Hugger. He is survived by his adoring wife of 66 years, Carolyn K. Hugger; children Bodin A. Hugger (Carla); grandchildren Eric Liberto, Michael Liberto, Kathryn Dansereau, Abigail Hugger Schiro, Justin Hugger, Grant Hugger, and Samuel Hugger; great-grandchildren Dominic Liberto, Ava Liberto, Noah Liberto, Oliver Liberto, and August Jarnagin; and siblings Sr. Mary V.
