Blanche LeCompte Kirchhoff passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the age of 103. She was born in Houma, LA in 1911 and was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arnold S. Kirchhoff, her parents Eugene Joseph and Lydia Gooch LeCompte, and eleven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Blanche Kirchhoff Gray (Mat), her two cherished granddaughters, Michelle Gray Crenshaw and Shalon Gray Murray (John), and her three beloved great-grandchildren, Eliette Crenshaw, Anna Murray and Gray Murray, as well as nieces and nephews whom she loved. Blanche was a tireless volunteer and activist. She was selected as an Outstanding Activist by St. Elizabeth’s Guild and was chosen as an Honorary Member of the Orléans Club in 1975 and also served on the Board. She served as President and/or on the Board of Children’s Hospital Guild, DePaul Hospital Guild, the Maritime Museum of New Orleans, Maison Hospitaliere, the N.O. Garden Society, the Spring Fiesta, and the N.O. Opera Guild where she helped to restore and furnish the Opera Guild Home on Prytania St. She was a Captain of Volunteers with the local chapter of the American Red Cross and served as President of the PTA at Louise S. McGehee School where she organized the first school fair. Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 11:00 am.
