Betty Chapman Tassin

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Mervin Anthony Tassin, Sr.; her parents, Jercy and Beulah Monier Chapman; her sister, Faye Dean Lachney; and her brother, Joseph Chapman.

Betty is survived by her three children, Toni Jeanne Tassin, Mervin Anthony Tassin, Jr. (Sonya), and Kevin Paul Tassin, Sr. (Yvette); her two grandchildren, Kevin Paul Tassin, Jr. and Jarod Schellhaas Tassin; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was born in Saint Landry, Louisiana on April 15, 1936. She was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and a member of St. Angela Merici Prayer Group (last member of the original founders).

The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Concerned Care Home Health and Hospice for the care and compassion they gave to Betty.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 1:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11:00AM. The interment will follow the Mass at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
