Betty Jane Frederic Phillips returned to the Lord’s home on Monday, September 11, 2017 at the age of 89. Born June 20, 1928, in Baton Rouge, LA to the late Elmo Anicee and Laura Lee Schexnailder Frederic, she is preceded in death by her sister, Laura Lee Frederic Harty, grandchild, Brian Jacob Phillips, and nephew, Rice Harty. Betty is survived by her loving children, John Kenneth Phillips, Jr., Laura Constance Phillips-Olister (Dominick “Buddy” Olister, III), Denise Gail Phillips Brunner, and Stephen Michael Phillips (Lynda A. Charbonnet Phillips); grandchildren, Jason M. Phillips, Sr. (Nicole L Oddo Phillips), Sophie R. Brunner, Frederic J. Brunner; great-grandchild, Jason M. Phillips, Jr.; and nieces and nephews from the New Mexico Harty family—Paula, Brenda, Bill, Linda, Patricia, and Leland. Betty attended school in Memphis, TN, and retired as a Merchandise and Control Executive from Maison Blanche Department Store. She was incredibly proud of her family’s involvement in the WWII effort. Betty was a parishioner of St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, devoted to the Blessed Mother and the rosary, and was blessed to receive the Holy Eucharist by the minister, Ed Mazoue, as she became disabled. Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, beginning at 12:00 p.m. at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 901 Beverly Garden Dr. Metairie, LA 70002. A mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place privately for the family.
