Anna Maria Mariano passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at her son‘s home in the French Quarter, New Orleans, Louisiana surrounded by her loving family. She was 104 years old. Anna Maria was born August 24th, 1918, in New Orleans, Louisiana to the union of the late Francesco Di Rosa, Sr. and Isabella Bonacarerre.
She was a deeply religious Roman Catholic and a loyal parishioner of the St. Louis Cathedral parish. Her sweet soul touched anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. She filled everyone‘s heart with an abundance of love and her tangible words of wisdom will forever accompany everyone she ever counselled or consoled. With her encyclopedic memory she was the vault of the most detailed cherished family memories.
Anna Maria is preceded in death by her husband Angelo J. Mariano, Sr., her daughter Angela Delofski and her siblings Joseph V. DiRosa, Sr., Frank DiRosa, Sr., Isabel Barback and Louis DiRosa, Sr. She is survived by her children Anna Maria Elshorst, Angelo J. Mariano, Jr. (Marylène Navucet) and Andrea Mariano (Simon Carmody), her 6 grandchildren David, Tanya, Tai, Hal, Jerome and Estelle, and her 11 great-grandchildren Hannah, Alba-Tai, Katharina, Riva Maria, Noe Jasper, Marie, Anouk Louisiana, Nola, Evangeline, Colette and Rémi.
She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and devoted friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the celebration of life services which will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home located at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, Louisiana. The visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., and the service will begin noon. Brother Todd van Alstyne officiating, and interment will follow at St. Louis No. 3 cemetery.
