Ann Zivitz Kimball Kientz, 61, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2022 in Metairie, Louisiana. She was born on October 7, 1960 to Harrel A. Zivitz and the late Betty Greif Zivitz in West Palm Beach, Florida. Ann was the beloved wife of Chris Kientz, who was dedicated and supported her in all of her passions throughout their ten-year relationship; devoted mother of Harrel Kimball (Allie) whom she loved more than anything; adoring step grandmother to Briar Rose; older sister to Carol Zivitz Lange (Joey) and Lois Morgan Vinson (Keith); and loving aunt to 2 nieces, Sam Lange Pierce (Matt) and Ali Lange, and 3 nephews, Andrew Morgan (Amber), Alan Morgan (Samantha), and Zac Lange, as well as 3 great nieces and nephews.
From a young age, Ann was heavily involved in the southeastern Jewish community. She regularly attended Congregation Temple Sinai in New Orleans with her family and enjoyed spending summers at Henry S. Jacobs camp in Utica, Mississippi, her home away from home. Ann dedicated her life to Jewish education. She was particularly proud of her creativity and effectiveness at implementing Jewish family programming. Ann’s love of Judaism was inspired by her mother, Betty; following in her footsteps, Ann served as the president of Temple Sinai and organized many trips to Israel. Most recently, Ann worked at the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life where she led innovative cultural events and enhanced relationships among Jews across the southeast. Ann’s family and friends will fondly remember her love of her dog Benji, Mardi Gras, Broadway musicals, Passover sedars, reading, dance, and all things NOLA.
A memorial service was held at Temple Sinai on February 25, 2022 followed by a graveside service at Hebrew Rest Cemetery. Those wishing to honor Ann may consider donating to Temple Sinai’s Henry S. Jacobs Camp Scholarship Fund or the Institute of Southern Jewish Life cultural programming.
