Angelina Vintrella Johnson

Angelina “Jean” Vintrella Johnson, age 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, October 4, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Vintrella and Alice Dominque Vintrella; former husband, Donald Johnson; and her siblings: Carlo Vintrella, Jenny LeBlanc, Delores Meinke, Ethel Brooks and Rose Fenasci. Jean is survived by her three daughters: Donna Lusignan (Thomas), Julie Johnson (Warren) and Karen Benigno (Salvador); sisters, JoAnn Tompkins and Diane Peterman; sister-in-law, Patricia Vintrella; grandchildren: Maurina (Jamey), Tara, Joey (Cherie’Kay) and Traci; great-grandchildren: Giuliana, Gianmarco, Francesca, Alessandra, Luke and Jude. Jean is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and longtime dear friend, Janie May. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Jean was a native New Orleanian who graduated from Sophie B. Wright High School. She retired from Chase Bank after working in the banking industry for over 30 years. Jean was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Divine Providence Catholic Church and a weekly adorer in the Adoration Chapel. She was a member of the Delta Playground Golden Agers for many years. Jean took pride in her home and garden, was a wonderful cook and excellent baker. She was well known for delicious and beautifully decorated desserts, especially her cakes.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA, on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. A Catholic Mass will follow at 12:00 noon. Interment will be in All Saints Mausoleum at Metairie Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Divine Providence Catholic Church Building Fund at 1000 North Starrett Road, Metairie, LA 70003.
