Andrée Briant Lago died on October 11, 2024, at EJG Hospital at the age of 90 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in New Orleans, LA to Andrée Oliver Briant and P. Paul Briant on April 14, 1934. She is survived by her husband of 69 loving years, Dr. Argimiro D. Lago, her children, Leslie Lago Morris, Andrée Marie Lago, Argimiro D. Lago III, Edith Lago Van Oppen (Robert) and grandchildren Brian, Hillary and Andrée V. She was the best mom and grandmother. Andrée was also survived and loved by her siblings Peter Briant (Nancy) and Renee Briant Levy (Charles). She attended Wilson Grammar School, Mc Main High School and Newcomb College. At Mc Main, she wrote for the Echo magazine and was president of her senior class. At Newcomb College, she was a member of PHI MU sorority and graduated with a degree in education. She taught until the birth of her second child. Andrée was an avid reader and belonged to several book clubs. Inspired and encouraged by her mother, Andrée loved to paint, a love she passed on to her children. She played tennis and bridge for over 50 years with cherished high school friends. As a travel agent, Andrée was fortunate to be able go on many wonderful trips. She was a volunteer at EJG Hospital, a beloved docent at the New Orleans Museum of Art for over 25 years and a member of the Orleans Club. We will remember Andrée for her kindness, her generosity and her thoughtfulness. She was very much loved and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Funeral Service will be held at St Francis Xavier Church, 444 Metairie Rd. in Metairie, LA on Thursday October 24th. Visitation starting at 9:30 followed by mass at 10:30. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to New Orleans Museum of Art or St. Francis Xavier Church, Metairie, LA.
