"Freda" was my "Earth Angel."  God definitely placed her in my life often at the right times when I needed the presence of God's love in my life.   She knew my birth mother, Sylvia Winkler. 
 Freda shared with me how she led my mother to salvation in the knowledge and love of Jesus Christ.  I was serving in the Air Force at the time that my mother was terribly ill.  I told Freda that my mom and I spoke about the Lord and show much she wanted to go to heaven.  I assured my mother that she would be there with lots of love.  Shortly afterwards,  God took her home.   Years later, I spoke to Freda about "mom's" passing and that's when she told me that she had been visiting with my mom and led her into prayer for salvation.  I had no idea but I know that God placed her in my life for HIS purpose and used her beautiful vessel to encourage my Faith and Healing.  What is so special is knowing that she held me in her arms as a baby from my mother and that our paths were meant to cross later on in life for God's glory and our blessing.  She was my "Earth Angel" on loan to me but now she is "God's Angel" sharing HIS love above.  I thank God for HIS gift of her love for HIM and her unwaivering Faith that encouraged me so many times in my life. ✝️💕

Freda, my grandmother, is the reason I have a sweet tooth. I loved her sweet tea, and, boy, if it was the sweetest you’ve ever had. I’m pretty sure every pitcher of tea had a pound of sugar in it, but to this day I haven’t had a glass of iced tea that measures up to hers. It’s a simple thing, but I could always count on a pitcher of tea in the fridge whenever I visited. We’d pour ourselves a glass and catch up. Now I’m pretty sure there was usually a pitcher on hand, but she always made sure she had a fresh batch whenever I came over. That’s the kind of person she was. She cared about doing those small things that make people happy, like having their favorite iced tea on hand for them. 

Freda was a woman who gave everything she had to those around her, and I mean everyone.  I was told that my mother never knew a stranger because she quickly made them her friend.   She just had a love for people and a heart of gold.  My mother, for those who knew her well, loved to talk on the phone.  We joked many times that when we closed the coffin, we needed to be sure to put the phone in there with her so she could still call us up.  As Jimmy, would say “telephone to Glory”.   Well, we did not put the phone in there, but she is still talking to our hearts and spirit each day. I have so many fond memories of my mother, but what I miss the most are our talks.  She was not only my mother, but she was my best earthly friend.  Truly, you could tell her anything and she would not get upset.  A prayer partner/warrior when life was a struggle and someone who never passed judgment, but would try to encourage and lift you up.  She was a faithful servant and ran the race to the very finish - she has made it to her final destination.  She talked about Jesus, but most of all she lived it- talking to everyone she could, and sharing with them the joys of salvation.  I am sure she will have lots of crowns to lay at the feet of Jesus.  Though my mom is gone, I can hear her say to love God with all your heart and serve him daily – if you end every day having become like Jesus, then you have accomplished what he has called you to do.  I hope each of you will continue to carry the cross, so your race is over, you too can say you ran it well and made it to Glory, where you will see Freda again.  Oh, what a day that will be.  Mom, you are greatly missed, loved, and cherished.  

Freda reminded me so much of my grandmother, who had passed away years before.  I felt an instant connection with her, and immediately knew she was a faithful, sincere, caring woman.  I treasure my memories with her and feel honored to share her stories for years to come with Jonathan and my future family.   I miss her so much, and am glad she is now home. 

Sis. Freda was a kind, giving, caring lady who loved the Lord. I will remember her boldness when sharing the Good News and her faithfulness to the call. When I think about her, it puts a smile on my face.

The first day I ever met them they both called me Debbie. They were my absolute favorite people in the world. They were both so kind to let me come to their house and welcomed me with open arms. I will always love her and miss her.  xoxo “Debbie” <3

I have so many wonderful memories of my Mother.  I could probably write a book about all the things she has done for her family and many others.   Her many words of wisdom as we spoke with her each and every day.  She loved God and people and had God's heart in all she did.  She loved to cook and watch people enjoy eating what she cooked.  She kept a super clean house.  She set a great example of what a  Christian, wife and mother should act like.  She prayed for and with us and many other people.  She enjoyed life and God blessed her abundantly!  She always wanted to keep a peaceful atmosphere in our house.  A place of refuge and serenity that you could walk into.  She liked dressing up and looking good.  She is greatly missed here on earth and totally cherished in heaven by our Father.  Thank you God for giving all of us such a special person to share while here on earth and looking forward to seeing and sharing with her again one day in heaven.  Love You Mom forever!

Sis. Freda was a selfless, giving, Christ devoted woman of God.
One of her many ministries at The Tabernacle, was a humble one: bus ministry. Every Wednesday night I can remember her driving to pick up children, in particular, from all around the parish, even from Village Square. It is from her direct influence and love that many have come to Christ through the years; she no doubt received a crown with jewels too numerous to count.  Much love to Bro CB and the family.

I will forever be grateful for the love that you showed me and my family. I will forever remember the warmth of your hugs, the way you made me feel so loved and the prayers that you prayed for me. I will miss your sauerkraut and hot dogs, and all the wonderful conversations we had. I love you and will always love you!!

She was such a special lady, I always looked forward to her visits to the office! Especially when she would bring my favorite roast beef po-boys! Her kindness and selfless spirit shines through her children especially  in the way you all cared for her these last couple of months! My thoughts are prayers are with her whole family! I hope it is a comfort that she is now at peace. May God grant y’all peace as well!

She was like a mother to me and she taught me so much in life, she will be truly missed❤️❤️

Mrs. Freda was so sweet and a great neighbor. She was always willing to pray with me or pray for me . She was so kind.

Our condolences from the Ortego family to Mr. CB and the Turner family. Mrs. Freda was our neighbor for many years in Chalmette on Old Hickory St.   So many great memories of her with my family are too many to list here.
True to her faith, I remember her as always having a very generous, loving and kind spirit.  She cared for her neighbors as she would her own family.  
Ms Freda was a very good & true friend, especially to my mom - Nola Ortego. 
She will truly be missed. 
God has called another angel home.
