Alex Henry Tanguis, Sr.

Alex Henry Tanguis, Sr., age 84, of Covington, LA passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024. He was born in New Orleans, LA on February 15, 1940. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Gaynell Ann Herbert Tanguis; his son Alex Henry Tanguis, Jr. (Jennifer); his daughter Geralyn Ann Tanguis Lusher (Keith); his brother Larry Jerry Tanguis (Diane); his grandchildren Alexys Amber Tanguis, Lindsey Tanguis Necaise (Billy), Lauryn Jenna Tanguis, Tanner Henry Tanguis, Kasey Lynn Lusher, Alli Elizabeth Lusher and Maddie Ann Lusher; his great grandchildren Landen Patrick Necaise, Brelynn Layne Earles and Rylee Addison Pace. As well as numerous relatives and friends.

Alex was preceded in death by his parents Henry Joseph Tanguis and Lillian Ann Simoneaux Tanguis; his sisters Shirley Keanan and Elsie Poole.

Alex graduated from Redemptorist High School, Class of 1958. He was a Master Sergeant in the USAF / Louisiana Air National Guard. He worked Corrosion Control, LA Air National Guard, Reserve Police Officer, Kenner Police from (1974 – 1995) / Investigator, Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office (1992 - 2001).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124 on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 11:00am. Visitation beginning at 9:00am. Interment in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
