Alanna Renée Kern passed away peacefully on Thursday April 6th, 2023 at the age of 64, after a lengthy illness surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 7th, 1958 in New Orleans and was a lifelong resident of River Ridge, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her parents William Euclid Kern and June Simon Kern. Alanna is survived by her loving daughter Amanda Renée Simon Rouquette and former husband Henry Philip Rouquette Jr, along with numerous cousins.
Alanna attended the University of New Orleans for pharmacy undergraduate studies and was a proud member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She went on to graduate in 1984 from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a B.S. in Pharmacy. She worked as a pharmacist at Eckerd’s for 10 years up until the birth of her daughter, at which time she retired.
Alanna had a great interest in genealogy and was very proud of the fact that she could trace her ancestors in Louisiana back 250 years. She loved colonial architecture, furnishings, and realized one of her dreams by visiting Colonial Williamsburg. She loved to travel throughout the U.S. and visited Europe, where she went to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and France. She enjoyed cooking, reading, visiting with friends and family, and playing with her beloved dog, William.
The family would like to thank Anne Rouquette and all of the caring staff at Ochsner Hospital who attended Alanna for the duration of her illness.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 9:00am until the service begins at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St Rose, LA.
