Mr. Perry was born on December 23, 1954 at the Naval Submarine Base in Groton, the son of Raymond and Frances (Tracy) Perry.
He grew up in the town of Ledyard attending the local schools and graduated from Ledyard High School class of 1972. He started his career as an Electronic Engineer at Electric Boat after high school and retired after 41 years. He married Sheila (Williams) Burelle on October 18th, 1975. Together they welcomed two daughters, Laura and Sarah.
Michael, or Mike as he was called by his loved ones, enjoyed bowling, playing golf and softball in many local leagues. As well as spending time with family and friends at summer picnics, playing poker, and taking golf trips to Myrtle Beach. He was a die-hard Yankees fan and loved the rivalry with his family and friends who were Red Sox’s fans. He enjoyed spending time outdoors with his daughters. They would take hiking trips to Lantern Hill, fishing, driving around and getting lost, picnics at the park, and trips to New Hampshire to visit cousins. Mike loved listening to music. He enjoyed blues, jazz and classic rock. He also was an avid reader of sci-if and fantasy books. He enjoyed going to the movies and going out to eat with his family and friends. Mike had a great sense of humor and loved making jokes and playing pranks on his friends.
Mr. Perry is survived by his daughters Sarah Perry, Laura Knupp, her husband Adam Knupp, and their three children, Dillon Knupp, Taylor Roberge, her husband Aaron Roberge, and Skye Knupp. He is also survived by his brother Kenneth Morris, his sister Raelene Rust, as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews and close family friends. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Phillip Morris and Russell Perry.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Colonial Health and Rehab in Plainfield for the amazing care, comfort and compassion they gave to Mike in the last few months of his life.
Calling Hours will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 5:00 until 7:00pm in Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Ave, New London, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sound Community Services 21 Montauk Ave, New London, CT 06320.
