Jack was born on March 19, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY, son of Louis and Sarah (Shapiro) Friedman. He was a veteran of the Army Air Forces, having served in Japan, New Guinea and the Philippines in World War II.
He married his beloved wife, Anita (Cantor) Friedman in 1946. They enjoyed travel, camping and winters in Florida, but most of all gatherings with family and friends.
Jack was owner and president of Affiliated Financial Services, which was an accounting and financial services firm. He continued to work until 2012, retiring at age 89. He was active in the community over the years being involved with the Elks, Odd Fellows and Waterford Rotary Club. He was an accomplished actor having been involved in numerous productions with the “Footlighters”, a local acting group.
Jack is survived by his daughter Sharyn and her husband Rick Caudle of Rocky Hill, his son Ronald and wife, Gaye Friedman of San Diego, California; his daughter, Laura Friedman Carpenter of Old Lyme; and his son, Louis and wife Paula Riley-Friedman of Southington. In addition to his brother-in-law, Louis Cantor of Portland, Oregon, he is also survived by his grandchildren Steven and Jeremy York, Samara Wilburn and Alexis Friedman, Julia Carpenter Rand, Sarah and Melissa Carpenter, Brian and David Friedman and six great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on monday, December 2, 2013 at 11:00 am in Fulton - Theroux Funeral home, 181 Ocean Ave., New London, CT 06320. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 until 11:00 am in the funeral home prior to the service. interment will follow in Beth El Cemetery, Groton.
